Airsick: An Industrial Devolution

Watch this hauntingly beautiful short film from Toronto Star Photographer Lucas Oleniuk, in which he tackles the issue of climate change using 20,000 photographs. The images, with the exception of two, were shot in Ontario, Canada. But Oleniuk says the represent a global problem.

Airsick: An Industrial Devolution achieves exactly what it sets out to do: It makes you think, and hopefully inspires you to act. What is clarion in the film is that to stop this threat, as humans, we will have to take a look at ourselves and understand that the actions we take every day have a global effect — and then turn that into positive change.

From Mediastorm:

“We’re addicted to fossil fuels and our infrastructure reflects that,” says Oleniuk. “My hope is that one day this film will be seen as the way we used to do things.”

Thanks to Jenny Nichols of the International League of Conservation Photographers for tuning us in to this film.
